We are seeking an embedded systems engineer to help address critical food problems in the agricultural industry by developing innovative technology to better our planet. This person will work on projects related to sustainable farming automation, including IoT, mobile robotics, and more.
The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, enjoys learning and receiving feedback, is comfortable working both in a team and independently, and is willing to try new ideas that are non-traditional in the mainstream farming industry.
Location: San Gregorio, CA - Hybrid, On-site Required 2+ days/week
Compensation: $30-50/hr starting rate. Full-time employees are eligible for unlimited paid time-off & certain personal healthcare coverage reimbursement costs.

Role Responsibilities
Design and develop embedded systems for robotic platforms with real time performance and power efficiency
Work with low-level communication protocols such as UART, I2C, and CAN
Write firmware drivers for sensors and actuators
Bring up and debug interfaces for IoT devices.
Develop control systems for motor controllers and other actuators
Bridge between electronics and higher level software
Debug and resolve system issues
Collaborate with hardware and software teams to make system architecture and design decisions
Conduct self-directed research into the best solution for the problem at hand
Preferred Experience:
BS or higher in computer engineering or a related major (EE, ECE, CS, Robotics, Mechatronics, etc)
1-3 years of experience developing professional embedded systems or sufficient project based experience
Low level software: Rust, C++
Linux/Unix operating systems
Integration with electro-mechanical systems
Hands-on skills such as soldering, bread/protoboarding, wiring, and using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc)
Technical writing and communication skills
Knowledge of or desire to learn sustainable farming practices
Applicants must be comfortable commuting to our location at least 2 days a week.
